Health and Wellbeing
Health and Wellbeing at Unity Primary Academy includes Physical Education, Mental Health, PSHE, SMSC and Healthy Eating.
Adults and children took part in the Macmillan Coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. We decorated our staff room and brought cakes in for our shared coffee morning. Our Catering team made cupcakes to sell at tuck shop which were a great success.
A minimum requirement is that children bring their PE kit to school on their PE days but it is suggested that these are left at school all week.
A PE kit should include:
- White t-shirt,
- Black shorts,
- Black jogging bottoms/leggings during winter months,
- School jumper/black hoody,
We have recently launched our 'Healthy Hero' incentive to encourage children to choose healthier food options during break and lunch time. Whenever children choose a healthy option at school and inform a member of staff, their name will be entered into a raffle. The raffle is then drawn during a celebration assembly on Friday and children win something to encourage them to be active at home.
So far children have decided to try new fruit and eat more fruit including: Raspberries, strawberries, pineapple, kiwi and a range of melon.
National School Sport Week 2019
The theme of this week is 'Five ways to wellbeing.' We started the week with an assembly about wellbeing and a guided relaxation session. Some children have learnt to play a new game called 'Ring the Bell' and we've all completed a challenging workout and a yoga session.
Don't forget to check back for updates and photos of our exciting week!
