Shark Information page

When writing information or facts down it can be confusing for the reader if the sentences are all in one big long list or paragraph. For example:

Sharks have been on the Earth for over 400 million years. Sharks were swimming in the oceans even before the dinosaurs. There are over 400 types of shark. Sharks can be as little as 6 inches (15cm) and as big as 45 feet (about 14 meters) in size. Sharks have the worlds most powerful jaws. Each type of shark has a different shaped tooth depending on their diet. A shark may grow and use over 20,000 teeth in its lifetime!

To make it easier for the reader to understand and look for the information it is useful to have a sub-heading. These can be a question or a short phrase. For example:

Introduction

Sharks have been on the Earth for over 400 million years. Sharks were swimming in the oceans even before the dinosaurs. There are over 400 types of shark.

How big is a shark?

Sharks can be as little as 6 inches (15cm) and as big as 45 feet (about 14 meters) in size.

Super Jaws

Sharks have the worlds most powerful jaws. Each type of shark has a different shaped tooth depending on their diet. A shark may grow and use over 20,000 teeth in its lifetime!

Today we would like you to use the sub-headings below (or make up your own) and under each write a sentence or paragraph linked to the title (as I have done above). You can illustrate your sections using or drawing appropriate images too if you like.

  • Introduction
  • Size
  • Teeth
  • Food
  • Fierce or gentle?
  • Baby Sharks
  • Shark Senses
  • Types of shark

Remember to write in full sentences using paragraphs and don't forget use capital letters and full stops in your sentences too! We can't wait to see your amazing shark fact pages!
