Welcome to Year 1!
Key information for children in Nightingale Class.
Class Teacher: Miss Gunner
Nightingale's Class P.E day will be on a Tuesday.
Please can all children come to school in their P.E kits. This should consist of:
- tracksuit bottoms/shorts
- white P.E top
- trainers or plimsolls
- purple school jumper.
In Year 1 we encourage you to read at home with your child/children 3 - 4 times a week. We do not expect you to read a whole book every evening, just a couple of pages will do!
Please also practice your child's sight words with them regularly. The aim of the sight words is to build up their reading fluency so these words need to be read without sounding out the words.
For any guidance on how to support your child's reading at home, please do not hesitate to ask the staff working in your child's class.
Spring term - Does it take a superhero to save the planet?
This term we are going to be focusing on the question 'Does it take a superhero to save the planet?'. We are going to be learning about recycling and ways that we can help look after the world around us.
Autumn term - Where in the World...?
In the Autumn term the children in Nightingale Class enjoyed learning about the world we live in. We discovered the location of the seven continents of the world and learned lots of different facts about them from the weather to foods that are grown and eaten and much more! We also learned about the animals that are native to each continent and everyone created their own non - fiction book all about these animals.
