Our class's PE day is on Thursday, please ensure that your child comes to school in their school PE kit and a school jumper/cardigan. Please remember that the school's PE kit is white t-shirt, black shorts/jogging bottoms and plimsolls or trainers.
Throughout the day, the children take part in a variety of different tasks and activities which will relate to the over arching project question. As a year group, we have a daily lesson of Read, Write, Inc phonics where the children will be learning their sounds and using this to help them with their writing and reading. Across, the day the children will have the opportunity to spend time enhancing their learning in the outdoor area. Therefore, please ensure that your child always has their jumper or cardigan in school and during the colder weather a coat which they can wear outside.
As part of the Healthy Schools initiative all Reception children receive fruit throughout their day as their snack and they have access to water and milk all day. If your child would like to bring their own water bottle in they can, however, please ensure that their water bottles are named.

Spring Term Project
'How Do I Grow?'
Autumn Term Project
'Can You Tell Me A Story?'
For our Autumn term project our overarching question was 'Can You Tell Me A Story?', therefore our focus was looking at different stories and at the end of term, their final project was their nativity which was 'Whoops - a - Daisy Angel'.
Each week, there was a focus story and these included stories such as 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt', 'The Gruffalo', 'The Magic Porridge Pot' and 'The Gingerbread Man'. The children were able to look at the story in different formats, such as a book and an animated version and in some cases, the film of the book. The children then had different tasks to complete which were related to the story of the week. This included activities such as creating their own stick man, creating their own Gingerbread Men out of playdough, making their own porridge, creating their own boats from Lost and Found.
The children were very lucky during the Autumn term as a local author came to visit them and read the story to them. It was a story about a two cats who then had a third cat come and live with them and the older cats had to learn how to look after the younger cat.

Use of Tapestry
Please remember to go on Tapestry and add photos of anything your child does at home, so they can share their achievements with their friends and other adults working with them. If you have any trouble accessing Tapestry, please come and speak to any of the members of staff within the class.
