Maths - Making 3-D shapes

For today's maths home learning, I would like you to continue to learn about different 3-D shapes and the different 3-D shapes around the house. I would like you to think about the different shapes you found yesterday on your shape hunt, some examples of these 3-D shapes would be:

cylinder - tin/can
cube - box
pyramid - chocolate box
cone - ice cream cone
sphere - ball

I would like you to have a go at making some different 3-d shapes, using different materials from your house, this could be recycled materials or paper.

I look forward to seeing some of the 3-D shapes you have made on Tapestry.

English - 'All about the wolf'

For today's English home learning, I would like you to remember what we mean when we talk about adjectives and how they are used to describe either an object or item. We can use adjectives in sentences to help us describe a character in a story. We are going to be using our knowledge of adjectives and how to write descriptions of different characters in the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Today, we are going to focusing on the character of the wolf and we are going to be using our knowledge of adjectives to write a description.

For today's task, there are two options for you to choose from and how you would like to complete your work. You can either complete today's work in the same way as you did yesterday, by drawing a detailed picture of the wolf and then write the adjective word/phrases around the wolf to describe the wolf.

The second options is to draw a picture of the wolf from the story and then write a simple character description using your knowledge of adjectives and write it using simple short sentences.

An example of this would be:

'The wolf has sharp point teeth. He has lots of grey fur on his body. He has round beady, black eyes to see you with. The wolf has big pointy ears to hear you with.'

I look forward to seeing all your hard work on Tapestry.

Expressive arts and design - 'What does Autumn look like?'

For today's home learning for expressive arts and design, I would like you to think about what it looks like in Autumn.

I would like you to create your own Autumnal picture or scene using the pictures below to help you create your picture or scene. You can use different materials to create your picture, this could include paint, recycled materials, glitter or any other different materials you may have in your house.

I look forward to seeing your Autumnal pictures on Tapestry.

Phonics - 'ay' and 'ee' sound

For today's home learning, I would like you to revise the 'ay' and 'ee' sound. I would like you to practise saying the sounds:

Remember the rhymes are as follows:

'ay' - may I play
'ee' - what can I see

I would then I like you to practise writing some simple sentences with the words with both these sounds in them.

'ay' words - may, play, hay, day, lay
'ee' words - see, bee, flee, tree

An example sentence would be:

'I would like to play with my friends today'

I look forward to seeing all your hard work on Tapestry.

Phonics 'e' sound

For today's sound we are going to be recapping the 'e' sound. First, I would like you to practise saying the sound and the rhyme, remember first you need to say, 'e' and the 'e, lift off the top, scoop out the egg.'

Then you need to practise saying the words with 'e' sound in them, which are 'wet', 'web', 'leg' and 'egg'. Once you have practise saying the 'e' sound and the words. I would like you to practise writing the 'e' sound.

Then I would like you to practise sound out the word using Fred talk:

wet - w - e - t

web - w - e - b

leg - l - e - g

egg - e - gg

I look forward to seeing all your hard work on Tapestry.
