Wilberforce class is named after William Wilberforce who was highly influential in campaigning for the end to slavery and The Slave Trade. He was a highly religious man and an MP who's religious beliefs inspired him to campaign for a lot of causes including ending poor living standards, ending child labour, improving education and prison rights. He was also one of the founders of the RSPCA. He fought for 26 years to put a stop to the slave trade and the Slave Trade Act was passed in 1807.

PE is on a Friday afternoon, so please make sure your child comes to school in their PE kit on this day.
There is a water in the classroom that your child will have access to during lesson time. If you would like to send your child in with a bottle, please make sure it is filled with water only.
Fruit is available at break time.
Reading Records are checked every day, we expect year 2 children to read a minimum of 10 mins a day, with their record signed by an adult at home after each read.
We encourage children to use Mathletics to access resources linked to their Maths learning. This is used across the school - all children have an individual login, please inform your class teacher/LSA if this has been misplaced and we will reissue a login card.
Times tables are vitally important for all maths learning. The children in Wilberforce class use a website to help improve their multiplication knowledge:
Our Spring Project
What lies on the other side of the ocean?
Get your sea legs on, it’s time to sail the salty seas! Navigate, investigate and explore the world – just like Captain Cook. Speak like a pirate, write like a poet and weigh and measure pirate’s treasure! We will be welcoming an expert into year 2 who is going to tell us all about how explorers and pirates used to contract scurvy. We will be searching the school for hidden treasure and much much more!
