We are Reading......

What we've been up to recently:

This half term we've had a busy time in all our subjects. In Maths we've been working on Fractions, Multiplication and Division. The children have made good progress in their times tables - keep practising!

In writing we took part in National Storytelling Week and the children all wrote some funny stories.

In Geography we have been learning about OS maps and grid references. We especially enjoyed looking at OS maps from 1890, 1950 and today, seeing how much Colchester has grown and how Greenstead was all farmland quite recently! In Science we've been looking at forces, starting with friction and air resistance.

In PE we've been doing a dance unit, culminating in an epic dance off against Coubertin - and we won :)

In DT the children have been designing and making items for road safety, including belts, vests, headbands, a wig and even bat wings.

We finished half term with a wellbeing day. The children enjoyed tai chi and yoga sessions. Later on we did a taster for forest school with marshmallows on the fire and some children used a fire steel to light a small fire. For our main activity we worked in teams to make devices to throw and catch eggs without breaking them. Although most of the eggs didn't survive we did have some great ideas and a lot of fun. We finished the day with a few rounds of our favourite game Blooket.
