Unity Community Kitchen for the local Community

BACKGROUND:

Unity Primary Academy are excited to have completed a local community consultation, resulting in the development and opening of a Community Kitchen on site at the school.

We transformed the old school kitchen into a Community Kitchen for inspirational food education. The community kitchen will benefit everyone, young and old –pupils, parents, and the wider community. The kitchen offers a flexible teaching space and fully equipped kitchen with commercial catering equipment. The Community Kitchen is accessed separately to the school allowing community access.

The community kitchen is funded by the North East Essex Alliance Be Well Domain and we are delighted to be working in collaboration with Community360 & Colchester City Council  and the funding means we can operate the kitchen for the local community.  All Pupils will visit and use the kitchen during the school day,  as well as offering a space for the community to come together to learn new skills and provide hot food for residents. Community access will be after school and will not impact the operations and functions of the school.

LOCATION: 

The community kitchen is located towards the front of the school (The training Hub)  with close access from the car park and entrance to the school.
