π€ How You Can Help at Home
We know life is busy, and many families juggle a lot. Small, everyday actions make a big difference.
Our main resource is SATs Companion which your child has a logon for. Read more about it at the bottom of this page.
Reading
- Spend a few minutes reading together—anything they enjoy (stories, comics, football magazines).
- Myon
- Talk about the story: “What do you think will happen next?”
- Don’t worry about getting it perfect—your interest is what counts.
- SATs Companion
Maths
- Practise times tables for a few minutes every day using Times Tables Rock Stars or help your child practice remembering their times table facts out loud (on the bus, while walking, in the kitchen).
- SATs Companion
- Use real-life maths:
— “How much change should we get?”
— “What time will we get there?”
— “Can you help me measure this?”
Grammar & Spelling
- Encourage reading and spelling the Year 5 and Year 6 statutory spelling list.
- Encourage writing in natural ways: shopping lists, notes to family, a diary, labels.
- SATs Companion
